This means a DPP does not necessarily require all product information to be stored in one central database.

We can design the supporting technology architecture around the existing infrastructure, data sources and requirements of the business.

Customs & Market Surveillance

The DPP framework is also intended to support regulatory enforcement.

For products subject to applicable DPP requirements, customs authorities can use the DPP Registry to check whether a corresponding DPP has been registered. Market Surveillance Authorities can also use product data carriers and the DPP ecosystem to support product compliance checks.

Reliable product information, appropriate registration and accessible digital infrastructure therefore form an important part of the wider DPP environment.

EU Regulatory Framework

The European Union is progressively introducing product-specific requirements under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

There is no single universal DPP requirement for every product. The introduction of DPPs is being developed progressively, with product-specific legislation determining which products are covered and what information may need to be provided. The regulatory and technical framework will continue to develop as further product-specific rules and standards are introduced.
